DEWIZ BRIDGES PRACTICE RANGE TO FIRST TEE WITH LAUNCH OF ON COURSE MODE

Publicerad: 31 oktober, 2023 av |

deWiz’s Delivers Comprehensive Swing Data Points and Provides AI-Based Analysis between Good vs. Bad Swings,
on the Course and in Practice

(Malmö, Sweden): Pioneering a new layer of swing data, deWiz has further expanded its capabilities with its new On Course Mode, which seamlessly collects swing data while playing a round of golf, all permitted under the Rules of Golf. As golf’s only swing monitoring tool you can easily use on the course, deWiz is breaking new ground in the understanding of the golf swing and using its game-changing data to help golfers increase their consistency both in practice and when it matters most, between the first tee and 18th green.

“After years of development, deWiz is the first swing monitoring technology that golfers have available to easily capture their swing data from on the golf course, which provides tremendous insight into their actual golf swing. Everyone’s golf swing is different when hitting balls on the practice range compared to on the golf course, and now deWiz provides game-changing insights. When you slice the ball or come up short on an approach shot, with deWiz’s On Course Mode you will now know why instead of guessing what may have gone wrong,” said Markus Westerberg, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer, deWiz Golf.

DEWIZ’S ON COURSE MODE: With exact measurements, deWiz empowers golfers to better know their swing, monitor their consistency, and make lasting changes to their swing. And the wearable tech’s latest advancement is a seamless solution to understand, analyze, and improve one’s play on course:

  • Seamless Bridge from Driving Range to First Tee: Turn on On Course Mode within the deWiz app and golfers can collect their data, all permitted under the Rules of Golf. With the ease of a wearable tech, data is stored in the background and matched after the round with input on the outcome of each shot and club used.
  • AI-Assisted Insights: Immediately after the round, deWiz generates AI-assisted insights on the most significant differences between missed shots and good shots. This helps golfers work on their consistency on identifying what is different when making a poor shot and what clubs and types of shots are their biggest area for improvement.
  • Range vs On Course: Within the app and deWiz’s Data Insights webpage, golfers can compare their swing at the driving range vs. when it matters the most, on the golf course. And for competitive golfers, there is also insights into how their swing is different between practice rounds and in tournaments.
  • Pro Golf Tested and Approved: deWiz’s On Course Mode was developed in close collaboration with professional golfers, including use in an LPGA Tour major championship and tour events, PGA TOUR Champions events, DP World Tour, LET, and on the winning team, the Singhs, at the 2022 PNC Championship.
  • Permitted under the Rules of Golf: Since the On Course Mode collects swing data in a “stealth mode” and the data can not be accessed during the round of golf, deWiz is permitted to be worn in competitions under the Rules of Golf.

DEWIZ – HOW IT WORKS: deWiz tracks the exact position of a golfer’s wrists throughout their swing, providing 3D swing data via a user-friendly app that monitors a golfers’ consistency and improves their ability to hit the ball longer, straighter, and closer. And to modify a golfer’s swing, deWiz’s patented Learning Stimuli delivers real-time feedback through an electric pulse that elevates the effectiveness of their practice and make lasting changes faster through neuroscience. For golfers, deWiz currently measures 14 swing data points on each swing, including Transition, Length of Backswing, Backswing Plane, Max Backswing Width, Max Hand Speed, and Tempo measurements. Additional advance metrics are available via the deWiz Coaches Program and our Elite Players program, including the development of deWiz’s on-course mode for tournament use. DEWIZ, GOLF’S FIRST SWING MONITOR AND MODIFIER, ADDS THREE NEW SWING DATA POINTS

Publicerad: 12 april, 2023 av |

deWiz’s Wearable Tech Now Delivers 14 Comprehensive Swing Data Points, Adding Steepening, Shallowing, and Initial Downswing Direction

Malmö, Sweden: Pioneering a new layer of swing data, deWiz has expanded its golf swing monitoring capabilities to 14 data points to help golfer’s precisely know their swing and use to make changes to consistently play better golf. deWiz has added three new downswing measurements, including Steepening, Shallowing, and Initial Downswing Direction. These precise measurements enhance deWiz’s swing analysis capabilities, which also includes Length of Backswing, Transition, Backswing Plane, five Tempo measurements and other data points. As golf’s first swing monitor and modifier, deWiz is breaking new ground in the understanding of the golf swing and using its game-changing data to help golfers increase their consistency and hit the ball longer, straighter, and closer.

“Like launch monitors do for impact and ball flight, deWiz is a swing monitor that is adding a new layer of data to better understand the golf swing, which is the root cause of a good or bad shot. These new downswing measurements deliver even more real-time data that golfers crave on every swing they take – anywhere and everywhere – and further optimizes how deWiz’s technology helps them make lasting changes to their swing. Feel is not real when it comes to the golf swing, but with deWiz golfers can precisely understand their swing like never before,” said Markus Westerberg, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer, deWiz Golf.

DEWIZ’S EXCLUSIVE NEW DATA POINTS: With exact measurements, deWiz empowers golfers to better know their swing, monitor the consistency of their good swings, and modify their swing to hit the ball longer, straighter, and closer. Whether it’s trying to fix that annoying slice or reoccurring hook, understanding these new data points for the downswing generally will lead to straighter golf shots:

  • Steepening and Shallowing: Steepening the golf club is a way of describing a vertical club plane of thedownswing in relation to the ground and will deliver a positive data point. Shallowing is simply the opposite with a more horizontal club plane and will deliver a negative data point. Measured within the first move of the downswing about 4 in/10 cm from the turn, deWiz’s data has shown elite golfers are generally between 2 and -6 degrees, while higher handicap golfers are often more than 5 degrees, indicating a very steep downswing.
  • Initial Downswing Direction (IDDx, IDDy): Initial Downswing Direction is measured on both the x and y axis of the downswing to illustrate the exact direction the lead wrist moves from the top of the backswing in relation to the golfer’s downswing. The x axis is viewed from a down-the-line angle where a positive number signifies an IDDx going towards the golfer’s toes (recommended range of 5-15°). The y axis is viewed from a face-on angle where a positive number signifies an IDDy going away from the target (recommended range of 30-55°).
  • Tutorials on Steepening/Shallowing and Initial Downward Direction:

DEWIZ CONTINUES GROUNDBREAKING TOURNAMENT SWING DATA CAPTURE, PROS GAIN NEW INSIGHT INTO DIFFERENCES INSIDE THE ROPES VS. ON THE RANGE

Publicerad: 23 februari, 2023 av |

deWiz Data Science Team Supporting deWiz Ambassadors and Users Onsite at Honda LPGA Thailand This Week

deWiz’s Game-Changing Wearable Tech Captures Comprehensive Swing Data, Providing New Layer of Understanding of Every Swing and the Ability to Monitor Consistency from Anywhere

Malmö, Sweden: Starting last year, deWiz has been breaking new ground in swing analysis as golfers like Annika Sorenstam, Vijay Singh, Henrik Stenson and Notah Begay III have been utilizing deWiz’s wearable tech in competition. To date, deWiz’s research development program of on-course swing analysis has included golfers wearing deWiz competition and practice rounds on the PGA TOUR Champions, LPGA Tour, DP World Tour, and Ladies European Tour.

deWiz’s in-tournament data capture research will continue at this week’s LPGA Tour’s Honda LPGA Thailand. Precise analysis is underway by deWiz’s Data Science team to compare good vs. poor shots; monitor consistency of how much a player’s swing changes through a round and tournament; and seamlessly bridge the divide to pinpoint differences between swings on the practice range vs. in competition.

“This unique, in-tournament data we are capturing of our deWiz ambassadors is fascinating, as our data science team continues to analyze more swing data and our ambassadors increasingly recognize the value of knowing precisely what they are doing inside the ropes, where it matters most,” said Markus Westerberg, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer, deWiz Golf. “As we continue to develop our “on course” mode, deWiz provides a competitive edge for golfers to know exactly what they did with each swing – whether it is on the practice range, in a simulator, in their backyard and now, on the course. Whether it’s the differences or where they are consistent, the insight is elevating their understanding through our easy-to-use, wearable tech that they simply put on and forget about it.”

Prior to this week’s LPGA Tour event in Thailand, deWiz’s Data Science team’s previous in-tournament analysis was of Annika Sorenstam’s swing data from the LPGA Tour’s Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. Preliminary findings covered how her swing varied when comparing data between practice and in competition.

“As a practice tool, deWiz provides me exact measurements of my swing, which is valuable information because we all know that what you feel and reality is not always the same,” said Annika Sorenstam, deWiz Global Ambassador. “To have the ability to analyze my swing from competition with deWiz’s comprehensive layer of data points is exciting as deWiz breaks new ground in better understanding the golf swing.”

This “on course” mode is still under development by deWiz Golf and was used within the rules of golf and with tournament rules official approval. For the “on course” mode, the technology is in a stealth mode where all access to data and feedback occurs after the round.

DEWIZ – HOW IT WORKS: deWiz tracks the exact position of a golfer’s hands throughout their swing, providing 3D swing data via a user-friendly app that monitors a golfers’ consistency. deWiz helps modify a golfer’s swing and learn faster with its patented Learning Stimuli™, so they more consistently hit the ball longer, straighter, and closer. DEWIZ TESTS IN TOURNAMENT SWING DATA CAPTURE WITH VIJAY SINGH AND NOTAH BEGAY, A FIRST FOR WEARABLE SWING ANALYSIS

Publicerad: 13 oktober, 2022 av |

deWiz’s Innovative Wearable Tech Captures Comprehensive Swing Data, Providing New Layer of Understanding of How Swings Differ On the Range vs. Inside the Ropes

Notah Begay Wearing deWiz Wearable Swing Analysis Tool at PGA TOUR Champions SAS Championship This Week

Jacksonville, FL and Cary, NC –  A milestone in swing analysis occurred last week at the PGA TOUR Champions’ Constellation Furyk and Friends as Vijay Singh competed with deWiz’s innovative wearable tech in all three tournament rounds. deWiz’s Data Science team has led post-round analysis of Singh’s swing data, unveiling several preliminary findings on how his swing varied or didn’t when comparing data across the driving range, practice rounds, and in competition. Additionally, precise analysis of good and bad shots is underway, revealing insight into what elements of Singh’s swing contributed to both his successes and misses in competition. Our preliminary analysis report shows how Singh’s swing was faster, shorter, and less over-the-top in competitioncompared to his range session prior to this round. For more information on deWiz, visit www.deWizGolf.com.

“Our groundbreaking efforts to analyze golf swings through deWiz’s patented technology took a huge leap forward as we bridged the technology gap between the driving range and first tee last weekend. Singh’s swing data matched some of our preliminary findings with amateurs that fundamentally golfers’ swings are different on the driving range compared to in competition,” said Markus Westerberg, Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer, deWiz Golf. “A common frustration for golfers is hitting it great on the range and then not knowing what happened on the course. With deWiz, Vijay knows precisely what happened to his swing inside the ropes last week and the development of our “tournament” mode could prove to be a distinct competitive edge for golfers who utilize deWiz’s capabilities in competition.”

“To our knowledge, this is the first time a player has gotten comprehensive and exact swing data collected from a global professional tournament with the ease of a wearable technology,” said Laszlo Varga, CEO, deWiz Golf. “To call this a groundbreaking event for swing analysis may prove to be an understatement, as now golfers like Vijay and Notah who are using deWiz will not have to rely on guesswork or feel to understand precisely what happen within their swing during competition.”

This “tournament” mode is still under development by deWiz Golf and was used within the rules of golf and with PGA TOUR rules official approval. For the “tournament” mode, the technology is in a “stealth” mode where all access to data and feedback occurs after the round. Notah Begay is expected to wear deWiz at this week’s SAS Championship, the PGA TOUR Champions final regular season event, and other deWiz global ambassadors and avid deWiz users on various professional tours have the opportunity to trial our “tournament” mode swing analysis services.

DEWIZ DATA SCIENCE TEAM’S PRELIMINARY FINDINGS:

deWiz Ambassador: Vijay Singh

PGA TOUR Champions, Constellation Furyk and Friends, Timuquana Country Club

October 7-9, Jacksonville, FL

RANGE vs. COURSE: In general, Singh’s swing was faster, shorter, and less over-the-top in competition compared to his range session prior to this round.

  • Start to Impact Time (seconds from take away to impact): His range sessions averaged 1.24, 1.25 and 1.21prior to his rounds vs.15, 1.17, 1.15 on the course. Therefore, his swing was on average 6% faster in competition.
  • Length of Backswing (inches from starting position to top of backswing): His range sessions average 62, 61.1, 61.3 inches prior to his rounds vs 60.8, 59.7, 60 inches on the course. Therefore, his swing was on average 1.3 inches shorter in competition.
  • Transition (how many inches over or under the top the downswing is compared to backswing, measured approximately 8 inches into downswing): His range sessions average 3, 3.5 and 4.5 inches over-the-top vs.5, 1.5, 2 inches on the course. Therefore, his swing was on average 2 inches less over the top, a 54% difference.

HIGHLIGHTS vs. MISSED SHOTS:

deWiz’s Data Science team also tracked advanced data currently only available to deWiz Coaches – including initial downward direction – which showed Singh was dropping his hands more in transition on several shots deemed “misses.” The team also identified that Singh was slightly faster on his backswing on several “misses” compared to his good shots.

CONSISTENCY:

Lastly, the Data Science team reported how Singh maintained consistency with his length of backswing and tempo under pressure significantly better than previous club golfer data captured. deWiz’s research with avid golfers using deWiz on-course has shown a larger drop in length of backswing and changes in tempo. Singh averaged a LoB that was 1.3 inches shorter between course and range, a 2% difference. However, deWiz typically measures amateur golfers with a 6-inch difference or 10% change of their LoB on the course compared to the range.

“While this is preliminary findings after our first test of deWiz at a professional men’s event, we are excited to continue to provide insights to our global ambassadors or any professional golfer looking to better understand his or her swing when it matters most – inside the ropes. Other technology does an amazing job at delivering swing data on impact and ball flight, but what I think is most significant for deWiz is our data provides comprehensive insight of the actual swing, which is the cause vs. the effect of a golf shot. And we can deliver that data in real-time on the range or as a post-round analysis for competition,” said Westerberg.

DEWIZ GOLF, HOW IT WORKS

Under development for more than five years, deWiz tracks the exact position of a golfer’s hands throughout the swing, providing a 3D analysis and delivering data via a user-friendly app that helps golfers more consistently hit the ball longer, straighter, and closer, as well as learn faster with deWiz’s patented Learning Stimuli™. For golfers, deWiz currently measures 11 swing data points on each swing, including Transition, Length of Backswing, Backswing Plane, Max Backswing Width, Max Hand Speed, and 5 Tempo measurements, and additional advance metrics are available to teaching professionals and our elite players program. 2021 U.S. WOMEN’S OPEN CHAMPION YUKA SASO JOINS DEWIZ AS GLOBAL AMBASSADOR

Publicerad: 30 mars, 2022 av Ola Eborn |

deWiz Delivers Revolutionary Wearable Technology with Immediate Feedback and Groundbreaking Swing Data

March 30, 2021: deWiz™ has expanded its roster of global ambassadors with the addition of Yuka Saso, one of golf’s hottest young superstars on the LPGA Tour. Debuting last summer, deWiz is a cutting-edge, new wearable technology that combines high-precision data with exact measurements of golfers’ swing and real-time biometric feedback to increase their pace of learning via neuroscience.

As deWiz’s latest global ambassador, Saso is using deWiz as a competitive edge, alongside fellow major champions Bryson DeChambeau, Vijay Singh, Annika Sörenstam, and Henrik Stenson, as well as respected teaching professionals like Martin Hall.

Yuka Saso, 2021 U.S. Women’s Open Champion, Rolex Women’s World Golf Ranking 10: “I was introduced to deWiz earlier this year as a tool for analyzing various swing metrics. I was immediately impressed by the product and quickly saw positive changes in my game. For example, as I’ve continued to work on my distance control, deWiz has been incredibly helpful in precisely measuring my length of backswing. It really makes a difference.”

Markus Westerberg, cofounder of deWiz Golf, PGA of Sweden teaching professional: “We have been analyzing Yuka’s swing metrics as the LPGA Tour season geared up this year and it has been fascinating to observe how she has been able to dial in her backswing consistency, especially with her wedges. deWiz precisely measures with ease key swing metrics like length of backswing, tempo, and transition, which any golfer from an elite pro like Yuka to an avid golfer serious about improving their game can specifically practice towards. deWiz is a competitive edge, because as golfers and coaches know – feel is not real.”

Annika Invitational in Australasia in 2018 to her U.S. Women’s Open win last summer. And now to have her as a fellow deWiz global ambassador is an exciting new chapter, as we both believe in the innovation this technology provides to better understanding our golf swings.”

Yuka Saso burst onto the global stage with her 2021 U.S. Women’s Open win at the Olympic Club in San Francisco, as well as another five top-10 finishes on the LPGA Tour last season. As the first male or female major champion from the Philippines, Saso also represented her home country at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics with a T-9 finish. Moving forward, Saso is now competing under her Japanese citizenship.

deWiz MAKING A BUZZ AS INNOVATIVE GOLF SWING MODIFIER, MERGING HIGH-PRECISION DATA WITH REVOLUTIONARY LEARNING STIMULI VIA WEARABLE TECHNOLOGY

Publicerad: 21 juni, 2021 av Ola Eborn |

deWiz Global Ambassadors Headlined by Annika, Bryson, Henrik, Lydia, and Vijay

June 22, 2021 – Improving your golf swing takes time. The science behind deWizTM, a new wearable technology, allows golfers to simply “swing, feel and improve faster” by minimizing the guesswork. Described by Forbes as looking to bring a “jolt to the golf training aid market,” deWiz’s innovative technology merges high-precision swing analysis with its revolutionary Learning Stimuli, which provides real-time haptic feedback with a buzz on the golfer’s wrist and/or an audio alert the moment a golfer’s swing goes astray. The magic of this instantaneous feedback is scientifically based on motor learning, which allows golfers using deWiz to more quickly adjust their golf swing motion and accelerate their learning process.

“deWiz’s data capture capabilities are unmatched via our wearable device, precisely measuring golf swing data like transition plane, length of backswing, hand speed and tempo ratio like never before. But what sets deWiz apart is our Learning Stimuli. Interpreting data on a screen and translating that into a proper swing motion is a time-consuming, trial-and-error process. Meanwhile, deWiz combines high-precision data with real-time feedback within a golfer’s swing to help them improve faster,” said Markus Westerberg, co-founder and CTO of deWiz and certified PGA of Sweden instructor.

DEVELOPED BY EXPERTS, TESTED BY PROS: deWiz’s innovative technology has attracted an impressive roster of global ambassadors. The product has been in development for more than five years and tested by a range of major champions and global tour winners, including 2020 U.S. Open Champion Bryson DeChambeau, 10-time Major Champion Annika Sorenstam, 3-time Major Champion Vijay Singh, 2-time Major Champion Lydia Ko, 2016 Open Champion Henrik Stenson, 2019 Houston Open Champion Lanto Griffin and 2-time World Long Drive Champion Tim Burke. Quotes are available from each ambassador at the end of this press release.

SWING, FEEL, IMPROVE: deWiz’s user-friendly app and wearable tech tracks the precise position of a golfer’s hands throughout their swing, providing a 3D analysis. Within the app, current swing training features include Transition, Length of Backswing, Wedge Distance and Tempo. These unique deWiz data points, delivered through the app’s 3D avatar, provide measurable metrics that any avid golfer, teaching professional or world-class player can better know their numbers to efficiently refine a consistent swing.

“If you have trouble slicing the ball, deWiz allows you to set parameters to minimize coming over the top in your transition. With the Learning Stimuli activated, a golfer immediately feels when their swing breaks these parameters, and they can continue to practice their swing until they have improved their transition. With deWiz, golfers directly feel the Learning Stimuli feedback to modify their swing, which is eventually replaced with the absence of feedback once they are on plane. deWiz’s accelerated learning process currently spans not only poor transition, the leading cause of hooks and sliced shots, but also dialing in distances with precise length of backswings for your wedge game and syncing the overall swing’s tempo ratio through impact,” continued Westerberg.

ONLINE SHOP OPEN TODAY AT DEWIZGOLF.COM: Currently for sale for 699 USD and available across the United States, Europe, and South Korea (more markets opening regularly – visit the website for the latest updates), deWiz is offering an introductory, limited-time discount of 10% off to celebrate this wearable technology’s buzzworthy launch. Please visit dewizgolf.com for more details on how to improve your swing faster or download the app to explore its features via Apple’s App Store or Google Play.
